At its best, Dark Souls III makes you nostalgic in the present, eliciting memories of the series’ best moments while offering some closure for longtime fans. By comparison, the Ashes of Ariandel DLC leaves me feeling empty and wondering why I came to it in the first place.The Ringed City aims to fix all that, with an immense new realm that acts like a convergence of familiar worlds and an homage to Dark Souls' storied past. I was a little worried about this expansion due to my overall disappointment with the game's first DLC, Ashes of Ariandel. While that DLC had a great final boss and nostalgia of revisiting The Painted World, it didn't live up to The Warrior of Chaos have needed a major update for a long time. And this DLC expands upon them further with a host of new units for you to lead into battle. However one could argue many should have been in the base game. But that is an argument for another time.
